The HW barcode reader surpasses regular SW readers in several ways, including an increased scanning distance of up to 23cm, sensitivity regardless of bright or dim light, scanning capability in 360 degrees and a tripled scan rate. The Z710's HF RFID reader also scans electronic data from tags attached to objects for the purposes of positioning and tracking. These data-capture capabilities are powerful tools for field professionals who need to handle logistics management and asset tracking with greater efficiency.

The Z710 is the first rugged tablet in the world to offer drop protection from a height of six feet and it doesn't stop there. It can handle a wide range of operating temperatures from -20°C to 50°C (-4°F to 122 °F) and storage temperatures ranging from -40°C to 71°C (-40°F to 158°F).
